Ingredients

Scale

Cake

  • 1 box vanilla cake mix (15.25 ounces)
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Milk Soak

  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 16 ounces evaporated milk

Topping

  • 8 ounces whipped topping
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with non-stick spray to ensure the cake releases easily after baking.
  2. Mix and bake the cake: Combine the vanilla cake mix, melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Use a hand-held mixer or mix by hand until the ingredients are well combined, about 2 minutes. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool for 15 minutes.
  3. Prepare and apply the milk soak: While the cake cools, whisk together whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, and evaporated milk in a bowl. Once the cake has cooled, poke holes all over the surface about a half inch apart using a toothpick or skewer. Pour the milk mixture evenly over the entire cake to soak it thoroughly. Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight, to allow the milk to absorb fully.
  4. Add topping and serve: After chilling, spread the whipped topping evenly over the soaked cake. Garnish with fresh raspberries on top. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 4 days for best freshness.

Notes

  • For best results, use a toothpick to poke consistent holes to allow the milk mixture to soak evenly.
  • You can substitute fresh strawberries or blueberries for raspberries to vary the flavor.
  • This cake is best served chilled and can be refrigerated for up to 4 days.
  • Make sure the cake is cooled before pouring the milk mixture to prevent it from sinking too much or becoming soggy.
  • Use full-fat dairy to achieve the richest, creamiest texture.
