This easy 5-Ingredient Football Dip is a crowd-pleasing appetizer perfect for game day or any casual gathering. Combining seasoned ground beef, creamy cheese, zesty salsa, and sharp cheddar, it’s layered and baked to bubbly perfection in just 35 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning

Layered Dip

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (8 oz) jar salsa (mild, medium, or hot)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat and cook beef: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until no pink remains. Drain excess fat and stir in the taco seasoning until evenly combined.
  2. Layer the dip: Spread the softened cream cheese evenly on the bottom of a pie dish. Pour the salsa over the cream cheese layer, then spoon the seasoned ground beef on top of the salsa. Finally, sprinkle the shredded sharp cheddar cheese over the meat layer.
  3. Bake until bubbly: Cover the assembled dip with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted completely and the dip is hot and bubbly. Remove the foil during the last few minutes if you prefer a slightly browned cheese top.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce grease and make the dip lighter.
  • Choose your preferred salsa heat level for customizing the spice.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, sliced baguette, or fresh veggies for dipping.
  • For extra flavor, add chopped green onions or jalapeños on top before baking.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
