Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 9 ounces refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 2 ½ tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
  • ¾ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese (divided: ½ cup and ¼ cup)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Boil the Tortellini: Bring a medium saucepan of water to a boil. Add the cheese tortellini and cook for 4 minutes. Drain thoroughly and rinse with cold water to stop cooking. Ensure all water drains completely so the coating will adhere well.
  2. Coat with Olive Oil: Place the drained tortellini in a medium bowl. Drizzle with 2 ½ tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and stir well until completely coated.
  3. Season and Add Parmesan: Sprinkle garlic powder, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, fresh cracked black pepper, and ½ cup of freshly grated parmesan over the tortellini. Mix until every piece is well seasoned and coated with parmesan.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 360°F if your model requires preheating. Refer to your air fryer’s manual for accurate instructions.
  5. Prepare the Air Fryer Basket: Spray the air fryer basket lightly with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  6. Arrange Tortellini: Place the coated tortellini in a single layer in the air fryer basket. For smaller air fryers, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  7. Air Fry the Tortellini: Cook for 6 minutes. Shake the basket well to toss the tortellini, then continue air frying for an additional 5 to 6 minutes, or until the tortellini pieces are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Transfer the air-fried tortellini to a serving dish. Sprinkle with the remaining ¼ cup of freshly grated parmesan and chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure tortellini is well drained to help the oil and seasonings stick better and achieve crispiness.
  • If air fryer is small, cook in batches to allow even cooking and prevent sogginess.
  • You can substitute fresh parsley with dried parsley if fresh is unavailable, but fresh adds best flavor and color.
  • Adjust garlic powder and seasoning to taste according to your preference.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan for optimal flavor and melting quality.
