Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Kofta

  • 500 grams ground chicken
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)

Garlic Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Kofta Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, fresh parsley, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Shape the Koftas: Form the seasoned chicken mixture into small oval-shaped meatballs called koftas, making sure they are compact to hold together during grilling.
  3. Preheat and Prepare the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Brush the grates lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking and to add flavor.
  4. Grill the Koftas: Place the koftas on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning them occasionally to ensure they are evenly cooked through and have nice grill marks. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  5. Make the Garlic Yogurt Sauce: While the koftas cook, mix the plain yogurt, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a separate bowl until smooth to create a tangy garlic yogurt sauce.
  6. Serve: Once the koftas are fully cooked, serve them hot with the garlic yogurt sauce on the side for dipping or drizzling over.

Notes

  • Make sure to use fresh ground chicken for best flavor and texture.
  • You can add a pinch of chili flakes to the kofta mixture if you prefer some heat.
  • If you don’t have a grill, you can cook the koftas under a broiler or in a grill pan on the stovetop.
  • Ensure the yogurt sauce is chilled before serving for a refreshing contrast.
  • These koftas can be served with pita bread, rice, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
