Chicken:

  • 1 ½ lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts or chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Hungarian sweet paprika

Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Hungarian sweet paprika
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • Kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3/4 cup full-fat sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chicken: In a bowl, coat the chicken pieces with flour and paprika.
  2. Cook Chicken: Brown the chicken in butter until cooked through; set aside.
  3. Make Sauce: In the same skillet, sauté onions, garlic, then add flour and paprika. Slowly whisk in chicken broth and simmer until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Finish Dish: Reduce heat, stir in sour cream, return chicken to skillet, and heat through. Garnish with parsley before serving.
