Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cotton candy extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup pink and blue cotton candy, torn into small pieces
  • Pink and blue food coloring (gel preferred, optional)

Garnish:

  • Extra cotton candy for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and cotton candy extract until smooth.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Combine wet and dry mixtures: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Add cotton candy pieces: Gently fold in the cotton candy pieces into the dough.
  7. Color the dough (optional): Divide the dough, color with food coloring, and gently mix.
  8. Form cookie dough balls: Portion the dough into balls and place on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake the cookies: Bake in the preheated oven until just set.
  10. Cool and garnish: Cool the cookies on a wire rack and garnish with extra cotton candy if desired.
  11. Store properly: Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a more intense cotton candy flavor, you can add a few drops of cotton candy flavoring oil in addition to the extract.
  • Be careful not to overmix the dough once the dry ingredients are added to keep the cookies tender.
