A savory and comforting Garlic Butter Bowtie Pasta with Ground Beef, combining tender farfalle pasta and flavorful browned beef sautéed with garlic, onions, and a hint of red pepper flakes, finished with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta:

  • 12 oz bowtie (farfalle) pasta

Ground Beef:

  • 1 lb ground beef

Other Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Boil bowtie pasta in salted water according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Sauté aromatics: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant, releasing the garlic’s wonderful aroma.
  3. Brown the beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5–6 minutes. Drain any excess fat from the skillet if there is a lot.
  4. Add broth and seasoning: Stir in beef broth, red pepper flakes if using, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 3–4 minutes to slightly reduce the broth and concentrate flavors.
  5. Combine with pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the beef mixture. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly. Drizzle with a little more olive oil if needed for gloss and moisture.
  6. Finish and serve: Plate the pasta and sprinkle generously with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Add extra cracked black pepper to taste before serving.

Notes

  • Bowtie (farfalle) pasta can be substituted with any pasta of your choice, such as penne or rotini.
  • Red pepper flakes are optional — omit for a milder flavor or add more for extra heat.
  • Draining excess fat after browning the beef helps reduce greasiness.
  • For a richer flavor, consider using homemade beef broth.
  • If you prefer, swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
