Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 2 (8 Ounce) Cans Refrigerated Crescent Roll Dough

Filling

  • 1 (8 Ounce) Block Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

Glaze & Toppings

  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Milk
  • 3 Tablespoons Sanding Sugar (Purple, Yellow, and Green)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Set your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the King Cake Bites.
  2. Prepare cream cheese filling: In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar. Mix with the paddle attachment until smooth and creamy.
  3. Unroll dough: Open the first can of crescent roll dough and unroll onto a clean surface.
  4. Divide and crimp dough: Tear the dough into four rectangles. Crimp the perforated lines down the middle by pinching firmly with your fingers to seal.
  5. Sprinkle cinnamon: Evenly sprinkle about 1/8 teaspoon of ground cinnamon over each rectangle.
  6. Add filling: Take half of the cream cheese mixture and spoon it down the middle of the first rectangle.
  7. Fold dough over filling: Fold one side of the rectangle over the filling about one-third, then fold the other side over like an envelope, enclosing the filling.
  8. Seal edges: Flip the rolled rectangle over and crimp all edges by pinching with your fingers to seal the filling inside.
  9. Slice into pieces: Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into three equal pieces. Crimp any open edges on each piece and place seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Repeat with second dough can: Repeat the process with the remaining crescent roll dough and cream cheese filling, using an additional baking sheet if necessary.
  11. Bake: Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake for 13-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown.
  12. Cool: Remove the baked bites from the oven and cool on the baking sheets for about 10 minutes.
  13. Make glaze: In a small bowl, combine the powdered sugar and milk. Stir until you have a smooth, thick glaze.
  14. Glaze and decorate: Spoon the glaze over each King Cake Bite and immediately sprinkle with the purple, yellow, and green sanding sugars.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is softened to blend smoothly without lumps.
  • Use parchment paper on baking sheets to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Customize sanding sugar colors if desired for different celebrations.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • For a stronger cinnamon flavor, add a pinch more cinnamon to the filling or sprinkle extra on top before baking.
