Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs, finely crushed
  • 1 cup shredded coconut, sweetened or unsweetened, as preferred
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk (one standard can)
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips, semi-sweet or milk chocolate
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt (optional)

For Coating

  • Extra shredded coconut for rolling the balls

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Crush the graham crackers into fine crumbs using a food processor or by hand. Set up your workspace with all ingredients measured and ready for mixing.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, shredded coconut, softened butter, and chocolate chips until the butter is evenly distributed.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly until the mixture forms a thick, uniform dough. Adjust the consistency by adding more condensed milk if too dry or additional graham cracker crumbs if too sticky.
  4. Form Balls: Use a spoon or cookie scoop to shape the mixture into small balls roughly 1 to 1½ inches in diameter. Roll them gently between your palms to create smooth, even spheres.
  5. Coat with Coconut: Roll each ball in the extra shredded coconut, ensuring an even coating all around to add texture and flavor.
  6. Chill: Place the coated balls on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up and set.
  7. Serve or Store: After chilling, serve the Moose Farts immediately or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • For a nuttier flavor, you can toast the shredded coconut before mixing.
  • If you prefer a less sweet treat, use unsweetened shredded coconut and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • These treats can also be rolled in cocoa powder or crushed nuts for variety.
  • For a vegan alternative, substitute sweetened condensed coconut milk and vegan butter.
  • Keep refrigerated to maintain firmness, especially in warm climates.
