Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 6 oz. Salmon Filets

Orange Teriyaki Sauce

  • 2 teaspoons Cornstarch
  • 4 teaspoons Water
  • ⅔ cup Orange Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Orange Zest
  • ⅓ cup Soy Sauce
  • ¼ cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon Sesame Oil

Toppings (optional)

  • Sesame Seeds
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • Chopped Green Onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth. In a small saucepan, combine the cornstarch mixture with orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Bring the mixture to a low simmer over medium heat and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl to cool.
  2. Preheat the oven: While the sauce cools, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with a lightly oiled sheet of aluminum foil to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  3. Prepare the salmon: Place the salmon filets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Generously baste the tops of the filets with about half of the cooled orange teriyaki sauce, reserving the remaining sauce for later.
  4. Bake the salmon: Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 14 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through.
  5. Broil for finishing: Remove the salmon from the oven and baste again with the reserved sauce. Place the salmon under the broiler for about 1 minute, watching carefully, until the top is golden and lightly charred to add a nice caramelized finish.
  6. Serve: Serve the salmon over steamed rice, and sprinkle with optional toppings such as sesame seeds, red pepper flakes, and chopped green onions to add extra flavor and texture. Enjoy your flavorful orange teriyaki salmon!

Notes

  • Be sure to watch the salmon closely during broiling to avoid burning the sauce.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
  • Optional toppings add texture and a pop of color but can be omitted if preferred.
  • Use fresh orange juice and zest for the brightest, most vibrant flavor.
  • Leftover sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
