Pull-Apart Cheese Bread Recipe

5.1 from 8 reviews

This Pull-Apart Cheese Bread is a deliciously cheesy and garlicky appetizer that’s perfect for sharing. Made with a crusty loaf of sourdough or Italian bread, it’s stuffed with mozzarella, parmesan, garlic butter, and parsley, then baked until golden and gooey. Serve it warm with marinara sauce for dipping to elevate your snack or party platter.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 1 loaf crusty bread (sourdough or Italian)

Butter Mixture

  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Cheese and Toppings

  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (or pizza sauce for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the bread.
  2. Cut the Bread: Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the loaf diagonally into 1-inch thick slices, being careful not to cut all the way through to the bottom. Rotate the loaf a quarter turn and slice diagonally again to create a diamond-shaped grid pattern, allowing cheese to be stuffed inside. Place the bread on foil on a baking sheet.
  3. Prepare Garlic Butter: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in the garlic powder until combined well.
  4. Stuff the Bread: Using a pastry brush, coat the inside of each bread slice with the melted garlic butter. Stuff the cracks generously with shredded mozzarella cheese, grated parmesan, and chopped parsley to infuse flavor throughout.
  5. Wrap and Bake: Wrap the loaf tightly in foil and place it on the baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Uncover and Crisp: After 30 minutes, carefully unwrap the top of the foil to expose the bread and bake for an additional 10 minutes to crisp up the top and melt the cheese perfectly.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and serve immediately with marinara sauce or pizza sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use any crusty bread, but sourdough or Italian works best for flavor and texture.
  • Use a sharp serrated knife to avoid squishing the bread when slicing.
  • Try adding other herbs like oregano or basil for variation.
  • Make sure not to slice all the way through to keep the loaf intact for easy pulling apart.
  • Serve warm for the best cheesy, gooey experience.
