Ingredients

Scale

Steak Bites

  • 16 oz ribeye steak, cubed
  • 2 tbsp steak seasoning
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley
  • Oil for coating steak

Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 8 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Gravy

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 cube beef bouillon
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak: Cube the ribeye steak ensuring it is well-marbled for tenderness. Lightly coat the steak cubes with oil, then evenly season with steak seasoning to enhance flavor.
  2. Cook the Potatoes: Peel and cut Yukon Gold potatoes into large chunks. Boil them in salted water until soft and easily pierced with a fork, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Mash the Potatoes: Drain the boiled potatoes and rice them until smooth. Mix in 8 tablespoons of butter, ½ cup milk, 1 cup sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until creamy and well combined.
  4. Make the Gravy: In a saucepan, combine beef broth, 4 tablespoons butter, beef bouillon cube, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  5. Thicken the Gravy: In a small bowl, mix cold water and cornstarch until completely smooth to create a slurry. Slowly whisk the slurry into the simmering broth mixture, continuing to stir until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Cook the Steak Bites: Heat a skillet over high heat. Add the seasoned steak cubes and cook, stirring every few minutes, until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Finish the Steak Bites: Once browned, add 2 tablespoons butter, minced garlic, fresh thyme, and fresh parsley to the skillet. Stir well to coat the steak bites evenly in the butter and herbs, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes to meld flavors.
  8. Serve: Plate a bed of creamy mashed potatoes, top with the herb-coated steak bites, and generously ladle the rich garlic beef gravy over the top. Serve immediately for best taste.

Notes

  • Use well-marbled ribeye steak for the best flavor and tenderness.
  • Yukon Gold potatoes provide a creamy texture perfect for mashing.
  • Adjust the seasoning in mashed potatoes and gravy to taste.
  • Ensure the cornstarch slurry is smooth to avoid lumps in the gravy.
  • Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad to balance the meal.
