Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1 cup chopped mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups frozen broccoli florets
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced parsley, divided

Protein

  • 3 cups shredded cooked turkey (about 1 pound)

Dairy & Oils

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 ½ cups shredded cheese (your favorite variety)
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream

Seasonings

  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat the oven to 395°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms, frozen broccoli florets, and minced garlic. Cook for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender and fragrant.
  3. Add Turkey and Season: Stir in the shredded cooked turkey, sea salt, ground black pepper, and half of the minced parsley. Mix well to combine.
  4. Incorporate Cheese and Cream: Add 1 cup of shredded cheese and the heavy cream to the skillet. Stir the mixture and bring it to a gentle simmer to allow the flavors to meld and the cheese to begin melting.
  5. Transfer and Top: Pour the turkey and vegetable mixture into the prepared baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the remaining 1½ cups of shredded cheese on top.
  6. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown on top.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven, garnish with the remaining minced parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute fresh broccoli for frozen if preferred; just steam it slightly beforehand.
  • This casserole works equally well with shredded cooked chicken instead of turkey.
  • Feel free to customize by adding cooked bacon, diced bell peppers, or a pinch of red pepper flakes for extra flavor and texture.
  • To prepare ahead, assemble the casserole, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Remove plastic wrap before baking as directed.
  • The casserole is done when the cheese topping is melted, bubbly, and golden with slightly browned edges.
