Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups / 250g Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 1/3 Cup / 260g White Sugar (divided)
  • 225g / 2 Sticks / 1 Cup Butter
  • 3 Eggs
  • 125ml / 1/2 Cup Whole Milk
  • 120g / 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1x recipe of Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, mix flour, half the sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Incorporate Butter: Add room temperature butter gradually until the mixture resembles wet sand.
  3. Prepare Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk eggs, remaining sugar, milk, and sour cream.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Pour wet ingredients into dry mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Bake: Divide batter into cake pans and bake at 180C / 350F for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Cool and Assemble: Cool cakes, prepare and layer with Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream.
  7. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the assembled cake for 30 minutes before serving.
